BUTTING A BRAID - Page 10 of 22

BACK...     NEXT...

The top photos show the braids, flat (not twisted!)on the table, just after the strands are cut. The bottom photos show the braids after they are unbraided to leave the strands in the LMS or SML patterns.
Notice that both ends of each braid have the same pattern when the braid ends lie parallel next to each other. It is now easy to see how we will sew the Short to the Long, Medium to Medium, and Long to Short. In the tri-color braid, you can equate this to colors. But please note that the colors are secondary to the lengths of the strands - you must make sure your strand lengths are in the right order before you sew the colors together!
