The top photos show the braids ends meeting in the correct places. Note that the yellow braid's ends were a bit short to sew comfortably together, so I tugged one end out a bit; whereas the tri-color braid was braided up tightly enough to have extra room at the ends of the strands (you can see how big and open the braiding is at the joining point - we'll fix this later).
Pin the ends of your last two strands together, making sure these last two strands are not twisted.
